Deploying Symantec Endpoint Protection using Group Policy

  1. Create Client Install Settings
    1. Go to Admin – Install Packages.
    2. Create a new Client Install Setting.
    3. Set it to Silent Install.
  2. If you do not have one create a distribution share or a folder in your existing share for Symantec Endpoint Protection.
  3. Export Install Package
    1. From Admin – Install Packages export Client Install.
    2. Set Export folder to you distribution share.
    3. Select your Client Install Setting and Feature Settings.
    4. Uncheck Create Single EXE to get MSI. Also Set the correct Group.
    5. Click OK.
  4. Create GPO (remember to create it on a test OU first and then move it)
    1. in GPMC create a new GPO and give it a good name.
    2. Edit it.
    3. Go to Computer Configuration – Software Settings – Software Installaton.
    4. Create New Package.
    5. Browse to the MSI and click open.
    6. Select Assigned and click OK.
